One of the most debated aspects of the Cash–Landrum incident is not the reported diamond-shaped object itself but the claim that it was accompanied by more than twenty military-style helicopters. If such a large escort actually existed, it would have represented a substantial aviation operation rather than a single secret aircraft. What This Means for the Secret Aircraft Theory
The helicopter element cuts both ways when evaluating conventional explanations.
On one hand, an apparent military escort makes a classified aerospace programme seem more plausible than if the object had appeared entirely alone. Military helicopters naturally suggest official involvement.
On the other hand, increasing the number of aircraft also increases the logistical burden. A secret prototype might conceivably remain hidden through strict compartmentalisation.
